Health workers screen Thai students for coronavirus during school exams

Health workers are screening students in Thailand for coronavirus before they take their exams.<br /><br />Footage from Wednesday (March 11) shows the teenagers arriving to complete their studies, despite fears of the virus spreading.<br /><br />They had to go through health checkpoints which detect fevers, a symptom of the deadly COVID-19 bug ravaging the world.<br /><br />Any pupils with signs of the illness, such as a cold or cough, a separate room for them to take their exam apart from the other students was provided.<br /><br />The school in Khon Kaen province believes that it would be a disadvantage to the students if they postponed the exams so they are continuing with them while rolling out extra health checks.<br /><br />One teacher there, Miss Wongapai, said: "The entrance exam is important to the students so they could not postponed. Instead, we have to come up with a safety procedure.<br /><br />"The officers split up and created health checkpoints at every exam venue to screen 5,000 students from the province.<br /><br />"After the checkpoint, we also have alcohol sanitiser gel at every exam room for the students and staff to clean themselves.''<br /><br />Thailand has 59 confirmed coronavirus cases and one death. There are 119,405 infections around the world and 4,300 deaths as of March 11.
