A one-eared dog is capturing the internet’s heart and has earned comparisons to the mythical unicorn.<br /><br />Rae, a 12-week-old golden retriever pup, had an injury during birth that left the dog with only one ear.<br /><br />As Rae grew, her right ear migrated to the middle of her head, where it now sticks up like a unicorn horn.<br /><br />Rae’s carer Brianna Aardema started an Instagram account for the dog at the end of February that has since amassed more than 21,000 followers.<br />Ms Aardema works at a vet hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, according to Good Morning America.<br /><br />She adopted Rae into her care after emergency surgery following the dog’s birth.<br /><br />“The minute I saw her, I knew I wanted to raise her and be there for her even though I knew the road to recovery wouldn’t always be easy,” she said.<br /><br />The ear migration doesn’t appear to be the result of any specific condition and was just an accident at birth.<br /><br />Rae is now well-poised to take the “weird-looking dog on social media” crown from dearly departed lopsided Shih tzu Marnie, who died last week aged 18.<br />
