Severe flash floods hit a market in the West Sumatra province of Indonesia on Thursday (March 12th) destroying shops and blocking bridges.<br /><br />Footage filmed in Pakan Rabaa Sitalang in Agam Regency showed a river of muddy floodwaters churning through the market.<br /><br />The debris swept away by the flooding later blocked a nearby bridge and caused the water to flow over the crossing point.<br /><br />According to local residents, the flash flooding was produced after only half an hour of heavy rainfall.<br /><br />Some blamed illegal logging in a forest 3 kilometres away for the flooding.
