CDC Recommends Ban on <br />Gatherings of 50 or More People The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) <br />made the extraordinary recommendation on Sunday. It is recommending the <br />suspension of public gatherings <br />remain in effect for eight weeks. CDC Statement, <br />via NPR News Such gatherings include <br />"conferences, festivals, parades, <br />concerts, sporting events, weddings,<br />and other types of assemblies." The recommendation does not <br />currently apply to schools, businesses or universities. Many such institutions around the U.S.<br />have already announced closures. As of mid-March, <br />nearly 3,500 cases of the virus <br />have been reported in the U.S. <br />63 people have died.
