A python needed to be carefully cut free after getting tangled up in fence netting.

The snake slithered into the grounds of a rice processing factory before being snared in the net used to keep birds away from the land.

Factory owner Seksan Khamsamruay, 55, found the exhausted reptile struggling to escape from the situation in Uthai Thani, central Thailand last Sunday (March 15) morning.

He contacted the rescue team to help untangle the python. They used a knife to cut from some of the string but it was wrapped so rightly around the python's neck that they were unable to slice through.

They then used scissors slowly cut the net instead and could eventually release the python.

The rescuers found the 7ft long python had recently eaten a wild bird, which was still half digested in its body.

The factory owner said he installed the net because the factory was always visited by birds coming for the snack he dried under the sun.

Seksan said: "The purpose of the net is to prevent birds to fly in and nibble the snack that we dry outdoors.

"We think that a bird might have become trapped in the net, which attracted the python and it was then tangled up in it.

"I think it was probably stuck for about four days as its mouth smelled very bad from the half digested prey in its throat.''

The snake was put into a sack and taken away to be released into the wild.
