Frantic shoppers in the Philippines scramble for hand sanitiser and alcohol to protect themselves against the coronavirus.<br /><br />The footage was taken in Manila on March 13, a few days before the Philippines government implemented community quarantine guidelines to limit the movement of its citizens across each city border.<br /><br />Shopper Benson Handog said that the crowd went berserk when a member of staff brought out boxes of alcohol.<br /><br />He said: "It was crazy, everyone was fighting off to get a piece."<br /><br />Military checkpoints were set up last Sunday (March 15) around Metro Manila the country's capital region, as a strategy to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
