At least 100 shoppers queued outside an ASDA in Watford at 5:55 a.m. waiting for staff to restock the branch and open its doors at 6 a.m. on March 19.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Once the doors were open, it was a complete stampede as people were rushing to buy items like toilet paper, tinned food and other items people perceive as being in short supply.

"The store continuously announced only 3 of each item. One cute way to get around the item limit per person was a family of 3 each having a trolley, then co-ordinating the purchases.

"There was no hand soap, very little shower gels and almost no male deodorant. People were literally running around the store and you could feel the atmosphere was tense."
