A distracted motorist in southern China crashed his car into a man walking across a road with a handcart.<br /><br />The dramatic video, captured in the city of Chenzhou in Hunan Province on March 11, shows a man named Cao crossing a road with a handcart suddenly being knocked over by a speeding car.<br /><br />The motorist named Chen called the police and Cao was sent to hospital by an ambulance. <br /><br />According to reports, Chen spotted Cao when he was 100 metres away but did not slow down properly as he was drinking water while driving.<br /><br />Cao suffered injuries to his leg but he was not in life-threatening condition.<br /><br />Chen took the main responsibility for the incident as he did not avoid the pedestrians and was fined 100yuan (£12) by the police. Cao took the secondary responsibility as he did not cross the road on zebra lines.
