INDIA: LEOPARD ENTERS SCHOOL DURING COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

The big cat was seen charging down school hallways as officials desperately tried to catch it in a coronavirus-quarantined city<br />a leopard prowling around a school hallway before attacking a man inside.<br /><br />The incident took place at the DSB International School in the Indian city of Rishikesh.<br /><br />The country’s 1.3billion population have been placed on a strict lockdown to try to limit the spread of coronavirus, leaving the school empty for the big cat to stroll around.<br /><br />A chilling video shows forestry officials running down the corridor seconds before the creature charges into sight.<br /><br />It skids across the floor before disappearing into a room.<br /><br />As it vanishes, the officials at the end of the corridor can be seen blocking the exit with some sort of net in the hope of catching it.<br />Akash Verma, a forest department worker, was injured in the rescue and was sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.<br /><br />The three-year-old leopardess had strayed into the school on the morning of March 24 and was spotted by several residents.<br />Officials finally managed to tranquilise the creature and it was carried out of the school.<br /><br />With nearly a third of the world’s population on lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic, incredible videos have emerged of nature seemingly “reclaiming” deserted towns and cities.<br />
