Reuters reports Italy's coronavirus death toll surged by 889 on Saturday.<br />The nation's Civil Protection Agency says it was the second highest daily tally since the epidemic emerged on February 21st.<br />Total fatalities in Italy have reached 10,023, by far the highest of any country in the world.<br />However, in terms of numbers of cases, it is second in the world the US, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases overall.
