Social media companies are fighting to contain misinformation about the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.<br />However, there are always some unfortunate and alarming messages that go viral on the platforms.<br />According to Gizmodo, the latest doozy is about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<br />It claims the CDC is expected to recommend that Americans begin to wear masks in everyday life in a number of days.<br />False.<br />The CDC currently only recommends that besides healthcare workers, only people who are sick or caring for sick individuals wear face masks.
