Officials from India's forest department today (April 5th) worked for three hours to rescue two wild elephants which had fallen into a muddy pond.<br /><br />Locals from the Wyanad District of Kerala tried in vain to save the animals and so called in the experts who used a digger to flatten the slippery sides of the pond so that the elephants could walk to freedom.<br /><br />The animals immediately ran unharmed to the safety of the forest, according to local media.
