South Korea is easing restrictions on so-called proxy purchases of protective face masks,... so people who find it difficult to buy masks themselves can have others buy masks for them.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said on Sunday that the government will broaden the scope of people who can have others buy them face masks.
It includes 5th and 6th grade elementary school students, middle and high school students, inpatients, and also those in nursing homes.
Until now, proxy purchases were limited to the disabled, children born in or after 2010, the elderly born in or before 1940, pregnant women, and some other groups.
The ministry says these changes will allow an additional 4-and-a-half million people in the country to have masks bought on their behalf.
