S. Korean gov't temporarily halts visa waivers and issuance of new visas for countries that ban Koreans

정총리 "한국인 입국금지국에 사증면제, 무사증입국 잠정정지"<br /><br />South Korean authorities are tightening the country's entry restrictions as a way to control the influx of imported cases.<br />The Prime Minister, during a daily coronavirus meeting, said the government will temporarily stop visa waivers and not issue any visas to countries that still ban the entry of Korean citizens.<br />Here's Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun during a pan-government coronavirus meeting.<br />"While maintaining the basis of openness,... the government will boost entry restrictions in accordance with reciprocity. The government will also expand entry restrictions on foreigners traveling without pressing purposes."<br />The move comes as Korea had been seeing more imported cases of coronavirus.<br />The PM added that a decision will be made later on whether to implement electronic wristbands to allow authorities to better track people self-isolating over COVID-19.<br />
