Sea otter plays on deserted Thailand beach

A sea otter enjoyed frolicking on a deserted beach after coronavirus restrictions kept tourists away.<br /><br />The creature was rolling in the sand as the sea lapped around its body in Phuket, southern Thailand, on March 30.<br /><br />Hundreds of tourists are normally packed onto the island's beaches but they have since been closed to stop the spread of Covid-19.<br /><br />Evelina W a n g filmed the happy creature enjoying the empty stretch of sand on her way to the grocery store.<br /><br />She said: "Some of my friends said that this is the same kind of otter that we have in Singapore.<br /><br />"They usually live in large groups, so I think this one may have escaped from somewhere.When I passed by again some 30 minutes later, it was already gone."<br /><br />Phuket is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand and has the highest rate of coronavirus cases outside of the capital Bangkok. <br /><br />There have been 170 cases since officials began recording, leading to a lockdown, curfew and tarvel ban coming into force on the island. <br /><br />Thailand as a whole has 2,473 cases and 33 deaths as of April 10.
