Heartwarming moment Indian elephant climbs free from 15ft trench

Following a marathon operation, forest officials rescued a wild elephant from a 15-foot-deep (4.5 metres) trench in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.<br /><br />The incident took place at Gandhinagar of Chittoor district on April 9.<br /><br />According to sources, the wild tusker emerged from the forest and fell into the ditch.<br /><br />A farmer spotted the stranded animal and alerted the forest department officials. A rescue team was rushed to the spot. <br /><br />The video shows the rescue officials using an excavator to create a track for the animal.<br /><br />Some can also be seen encouraging the tusker as it attempts to climb out of the ditch. <br /><br />Following this, the tusker climbs out of the ditch using the dirt ramp.<br /><br />The animal was greeted with a loud cheer once it had successfully gotten out of the pit.
