San Francisco Bay Area doctor Edward Abratowski believes that he and his medical colleagues all underestimated the coronavirus.<br />Business Insider reports Abratowski noted that his hospital is seeing a precipitous drop in patients.<br />Besides a moratorium on elective surgeries, people are staying away, fearing that a hospital is "not the best place to be" right now.<br />On a very busy night, his ward may see sixteen patients. Now, Abratowski says the average is around six.<br />Abratowski believes the Trump administration botched its coronavirus response and "should have shut down the entire country right away."<br />He believes social distancing is "far and away the most important protection" from the coronavirus.<br />Abratowski praised California Gov. Gavin Newsom for prioritizing social distancing early on in the outbreak.
