Thailand storms: Moment tornado blows over concrete posts and metal huts

This is the terrifying moment a tornado whipped up clouds of dust and blew over concrete posts during storms in Thailand on Monday (April 13).<br /><br />Drivers were shocked when the swirling vortex moved across fields and onto a road in Si Racha in Chonburi province at 1pm local time. <br /><br />The mini tornado tore down concrete posts and picked up a metal taxi stand, which landed on a parked lorry and truck.<br /><br />Shocked onlooker Nong Jirapat said: ''We were so close to to the tornado I could feel it inside our car. I was so scared, thought it was coming towards us.''<br /><br />Summer storms swept through northern Thailand on Sunday night before moving south towards the capital Bangkok on Monday.<br /><br />Thunder and lightning as well as flash floods arrived in the capital following strong wind, rain and hail which caused extensive damage to buildings in northern regions.<br /><br />Footage shows trees and road signs being blown as locals struggle with the gales. That was followed by downpours which caused flash floods. <br /><br />The storms moved from the north of the country into the central region. Last night, dozens of homes were damaged in Phitsanulok province and officials were assisting with repairs. <br /><br />Golf-ball sized hail stones also lashed Nong Bua Lamphu province, damaging the homes of locals who are also suffering from the economic slump caused by the coronavirus.<br /><br />Thailand's Meteorological Department said there will be summer thunderstorms in provinces mainly in the northeast part of Thailand from April 12 to 14.
