Colin Kaepernick Makes $100,000<br />Donation to COVID-19 Relief Fund Former NFL players Colin Kaepernick recently announced<br />the launch of a COVID-19 relief fund through the<br />campaign he founded, Know Your Rights Camp. Kaepernick donated an initial $100,000 to the fund,<br />which is aimed at helping communities of color that are<br />being “disproportionally devastated” by the virus. As of April 20, the fund has<br />raised more than $287,000. According to the fund’s website, structural racism<br />in housing, medical institutions, employment and<br />transportation have perpetuated the issue. Colin Kaepernick,<br />via statement The fund will reportedly work to provide shelter,<br />food and personal protective equipment (PPE)<br />to those without proper access. It will also work to help incarcerated people<br />of color by partnering with organizations to<br />pay bail and reduce prison populations. In addition, the Know Your Rights Camp has partnered<br />with the COVID Tracking Project and The Antiracist<br />Research & Policy Center's Racial Data Tracker to provide proper information and data on how<br />COVID-19 is unfairly affecting communities of color.
