While the restaurant industry confronts declining sales and huge layoffs, mobile apps and digital are showing promising signs of growth. <br />According to Business Insider, Chipotle's digital sales grew more than 102% in March, as customers ordered burritos for delivery or pick-up, while sheltering-in-place.<br />Chipotle made big investments in their digital arm in 2019, and now they're hoping that it will pay off after the coronavirus pandemic disappears. <br />CEO Brian Niccol said "Our rewards database just went from 8 million to 12 million...And that's going to be a very valuable asset." <br />He also anticipates that dining rooms will reopen "in the next month or two." <br />But in the meantime, Chipotle's is thriving through their delivery and pick-up sales, from online and app orders.
