This amount is unexpected, as the<br />former New York City mayor officially<br />ended his campaign on March 4. Bloomberg, who’s estimated to be worth $55 billion, was known <br />for his sizable spending throughout his four-month campaign. The $1 billion he spent represents the most money a<br />politician has ever spent on a political campaign. The record was previously held by Barack Obama, who raised <br />$748 million from donors during his 2008 campaign.
