The total number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country exceeded 8,000 as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 254 new people afflicted with COVID-19. There are now 8,212 COVID-19 cases nationwide as of 4 p.m. of Wednesday, April 29, said the DOH in its latest case bulletin.<br /><br />The Health department also reported another 48 patients who were able to survive the disease, raising the number of recoveries to 1,023.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the country’s death toll has jumped to 558 after 28 new fatalities were recorded.<br /><br />Based on the situation report of the World Health Organization as of April 28, the global tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is at 2,954,222, including 202,597 deaths.
