Academy Says <br />Streaming Movies <br />Can Now Win Oscars The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and <br />Sciences’ board of governors met over Zoom <br />to discuss the changes, according to <br />‘The Hollywood Reporter.’ Direct-to-streaming movies will now qualify as <br />long as they are available on the voting body’s <br />Academy Screening Room streaming service. Films will no longer be required<br /> to have a one-week theatrical <br />run in Los Angeles. Films may now also have week-long <br />runs in New York, San Francisco, <br />Chicago, Miami and Atlanta. The 93rd Academy Awards are set <br />to take place February 27, 2021.
