Vet in India guides operation on two-month-old puppy in Malaysia via livestream

Surgeons at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) in Malaysia performed a complicated thoracic surgery on a two-month-old puppy. <br /><br />Dr Shibu Sulaiman of Penang Veterinary Hospital in Malaysia received a patient, an eight-week-old Miniature Pinscher weighing only 800 grams. <br /><br />The pup suffered from a rare condition of vascular ring anomaly, which could be corrected only through a complicated thoracic surgery. <br /><br />But as the Malaysian doctors expressed their apprehension given the size of the animal, Dr Shibu approached Dr Sooryadas S, Assistant Professor, College of Veterinary and Animal Science in India.<br /><br />As Dr Sooryadas gave step-by-step guidance via a livestream, Dr Shibu carried out the procedure, saving the pup's life.<br /> <br />Hospital head Dr. Bipin K C said: “It was a challenge and we are happy we could save the pup's life.”<br /><br />Vascular ring anomaly is life-threatening as food gets stuck in oesophagus triggering regurgitation.<br /><br />This footage was filmed on April 30.
