President Donald Trump tweeted a threat on Tuesday to states battling the novel coronavirus pandemic.<br />According to Business Insider, Trump said that he may condition federal aid to states on their eliminating sanctuary cities, payroll taxes, and capital gains taxes.<br />Trump added he wanted lawsuit indemnification, and business deductions for restaurants & entertainment.<br />It's not the first time Trump has implied he may link government aid to state and local officials with acquiescence to his demands.<br />Whether the Trump administration can legally condition federal aid on states on complying with his immigration-related demands is unclear.<br />But it's almost a given that he'll face pushback in the courts if he seeks to impose such an order.
