Russia has completed the construction of a giant military cathedral erected to celebrate the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany. <br /> <br />The church sparked controversy after it emerged some mosaics were depicting President Vladimir Putin and other Russian leaders, including Joseph Stalin. <br /> <br />The Kremlin has now asked for the Putin mosaics to be dismantled, with a spokesperson saying that celebrating the Russian President's achievements was “premature”. <br /> <br />The Orthodox Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces was built in 598 days, with a total cost of around 6bn rubles ($82m).
