Often called wear-and-tear arthritis, osteoarthritis causes cartilage, the natural cushioning between joints, to wear away.<br />That can produce enormous pain for the OA sufferer, especially in the knees.<br />Now, UPI reports specially designed shoes can dramatically reduce that pain.<br />Researchers found biomechanical footwear -- special shoes with a novel sole -- reduced pain by more than 60 percent.<br />These findings provide strong evidence supporting the effectiveness of a new treatment for knee osteoarthritis.
