Typhoon Ambo made landfall in the Philippines today (May 14) as it battered homes with heavy rain and winds of 150 km/h.<br /><br />The storm, with international name Vongfong, made landfall over Eastern Samar at 12:15 p.m, bringing gusts of up to 180 km/h.<br /><br />Footage shows strong waves battering a coastal area in Eastern Samar province.<br /><br />Typhoon Ambo is the first typhoon to hit the country this year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
