KLPGA 챔피언십 개막…"전 세계가 함께 본다"<br /><br />Women's golf in South Korea joins Korea's professional baseball and soccer leagues, which have already restarted in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.<br />With masks, hand sanitizers, and temperature checks in place, the KLPGA Championship got underway becoming the first tour in the world to get back into action after the COVID-19 shutdown.<br />Our Jang Tae-hyun reports.<br />This golfer is the first in the world to tee off after the coronavirus shutdown.<br />Professional golf has resumed in South Korea and is in the spotlight.<br />The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association Championship started up again this Thursday and almost 80 media outlets came to report on the first tournament.<br />It is being shown all over the world including in the U.S., Japan and Indonesia.<br />As there is a risk of more COVID-19 cases in the country, officials from the KLPGA have adopted strict measures to prevent the spread of the virus.<br />Players must have their temperature checked and should wear face masks before and after playing.<br />And they can no longer high-five the crowd or hear their cheers as there aren't any spectators.<br />"Since there were no fans in the gallery, it was more like a practice game."<br />Not only the players, but everyone involved, including reporters, has to fill out COVID-19 screening questions and get their temperatures checked.<br />"Anyone recording over 37 degrees Celsius will be moved to the screening center... and those with over 37-point-five degrees will be transferred to a hospital.<br />If successful, the KLPGA's efforts can provide a roadmap on how to host golf tournaments amid the risk of COVID-19.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News, Yangju<br />
