"이태원 클럽 관련 확진자 누적 153명"<br /><br />South Korea is going all out to keep the coronavirus under control... following an outbreak at clubs and bars in the Seoul neighborhood of Itaewon.<br />There have already been secondary and tertiary infections from those clubs,... so it's a battle against time.<br />Jang Tae-hyun starts us off tonight.<br />As of noon Friday, South Korea has confirmed 153 cases of COVID-19 linked to the Itaewon clubs and bars.<br />Among those, 90 were infected at the clubs and the other 63 are family, friends and coworkers... who caught the virus either second- or third-hand.<br />It's not just clubs, though some of the latest cases happened at singing rooms.<br />According to the Seoul city government, five people have been infected in the neighborhood of Hongdae, an area popular with young people.<br />They had not been to Itaewon,... but one of them had been in the same singing room, or noraebang, as someone who had.<br />These are third-degree infections, and the government is determined to stop it from going any farther.<br />"Our top priority is to prevent a fourth-level transmission, so that's why we are doing our best to trace and manage contacts with the infected. So far, there have been no cases or indications of fourth-degree infections."<br />In terms of age, 15 people confirmed with the virus are younger than 18.<br />Some of them were infected by their teacher... at a private academy in Incheon.<br />Meanwhile, the government is going to hold a briefing next Tuesday on guidelines for high-risk facilities like clubs, which right now are closed.<br />And since the weather is warming up, that will include guidelines on air conditioning in public places.<br />As of Friday, the total number of cases reported in South Korea stands at 11-thousand-18.<br />And as of Thursday at 6 PM, almost 37-thousand people were in self-quarantine,... a number that's been rising since the Itaewon outbreak was first discovered.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News<br />
