On May 15th 2018, Colo-Colo faced Bolívar, one of their rivals in a fiercely contested Copa Libertadores group stage. Colo-Colo fans generated a great atmosphere to support their team in such a crucial game and they were able to celebrate a victory as Esteban Paredes scored a brace. Colo-Colo went through the group stage, won their Round of 16 tie vs Corinthians and made it to the quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by Palmeiras.
