Residents were evacuated today (May 15) as Typhoon Ambo continued battering the Philippines with strong wind and rain.<br /><br />Footage shows the downpours this morning in Macalelon, Quezon province, where people were given food and shelter in the regions's town hall.<br /><br />Typhoon Ambo, with international name Vongfong, is the first typhoon to hit the country this year in the midst of COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.<br /><br />The typhoon made landfall yesterday at lunchtime (May 14) over Eastern Samar province at 12:15 p.m, bringing gusts of wind up to 112mph.
