“Ambo” (international name “Vongfong”) weakened into a severe tropical storm from typhoon category on Friday after it whipped destructive winds and dumped heavy to intense rainfall while moving towards the Quezon-Laguna area, the state weather bureau said.<br /><br />The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Ambo has made six landfalls so far since Thursday upon entering the country’s landmass — the most recent was in San Andres, Quezon at 7:45 a.m. Friday
