WHO alerts doctors and world leaders to mysterious illness potentially linked to COVID-19

WHO “어린이 괴질, 코로나19 연관 추정…전세계 경계해야”<br /><br />In the ongoing battle against COVID-19, the focus is now on children.<br />A mysterious illness that is potentially related to COVID-19 has been hitting children around the world, especially in Europe and North America.<br />Kim Sung-min reports.<br />Countries, especially in Europe and North America, have been increasingly reporting a mysterious illness among children that is possibly linked to COVID-19.<br />In response, the World Health Organization has sent an alert to world clinicians and leaders.<br />"I call on all clinicians worldwide to work with your national authorities and W.H.O. to be on the alert and better understand this syndrome in children."<br />The syndrome is known to present symptoms including high fever, skin rash and toxic shock.<br />The Director-General added that the initial reports suggest that the syndrome is potentially related to COVID-19.<br />A similar interpretation came from a doctor who treated a child in France who died due to the syndrome.<br />"For now, we scientists who are studying this, are assuming the virus has a link with COVID-19. From many of these patients, we find either a positive for PCR test (indicating COVID-19 infection), or positive antibodies, but not in all cases."<br />It was the first case of death from the syndrome in France, and the second in Europe...following the United Kingdom.<br />Over in the United States, New York has been reporting the largest number of cases.<br />The state's Governor issued a warning for the rest of the country after seeing more than 100 cases and 3 deaths from the illness.<br />Kim Sung-min, Arirang News.<br />
