A clash has broken out between migrant workers and police personnel in the western Indian state of Gujrat.<br /><br />The incident took place near a construction site in Ahmedabad on Monday (May 18). <br /><br />Footage shows the migrant workers pelting stones at police personnel.<br /><br />Around 100 workers gathered near the construction site at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad’s new campus in the Vastrapur area demanding wages, meals, and transport to return home.<br /><br />The clash broke out after police rushed to the spot to disperse the crowd.<br /><br />According to local reports, two policemen were injured in the clash.<br /><br />Police later lobbed teargas shells to disperse the rioters and detained at least 50 suspects. <br /><br />Ever since the lockdown was imposed to combat the COVID-19, Gujarat has seen around a dozen incidents of violence between migrant workers and police personnel.
