Navajo Nation Now Has the Largest COVID-19 Infection Rate The Navajo Nation is an <br />area which includes northern Arizona, <br />New Mexico and southern Utah. As of Monday, 4,002 cases <br />had been reported in the nation, <br />with a reported population of 173,667. This means that for every <br />100,000 people, the Navajo Nation has <br />2,301.41 known cases of COVID-19. As of Monday, New York has a <br />COVID-19 rate of 1,806 cases per <br />100,000 people. The nation currently has one of <br />the most strict stay-at-home <br />orders in the U.S. Despite even having weekend lockdowns, <br />the infection numbers have continued to compound. Part of the issue is that <br />many residences are multi-generational. Jonathan Nez, Navajo Nation President 140 people have died in the region. <br />11 percent of the population has <br />been tested for the coronavirus.
