Indian rescue officials are battling to clear debris and restore communication on roads devastated by cyclone Amphan.<br /><br />A small team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials worked in the early hours of May 21 to clear trees uprooted by the cyclone on a road to Digha in the eastern part of India.<br /><br />Amphan, one of the worst storms to hit the Bay of Bengal in years, has killed 12 people in West Bengal state alone. <br /><br />The powerful cyclone, which slammed into Indian east coast areas with gusting winds of up to 185 km/h has destroyed thousands of homes. <br /><br />Millions of people from coastal areas in India and Bangladesh were also evacuated.
