Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines have increased by 163, the Department of Health (DOH) said, taking the total of confirmed cases to 13,597 as of 4 p.m. of Friday (May 22).<br /><br />Eleven new fatalities bring the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 857, the DOH said, while 92 more patients have recovered, raising the number of recoveries to 3,092.<br /><br />The World Health Organization (WHO) said that 4,893,186 people across the globe have contracted the illness, including 323,256 deaths.<br /><br />She also reported that six new healthcare workers in the country were found positive for COVID-19, bringing the number of cases among healthcare workers to 2,336. Of this number, 1,086 have recovered. The death toll remains at 31.
