Despite the coronavirus pandemic, hundreds of religious Muslims flocked to this mosques in Padang City in West Sumatra Province of Indonesia today (May 24th) to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.<br /><br />Mosque staff asked the faithful to wash their hands at the door and took temperatures to prevent anyone with symptoms from entering.<br /><br />However, footage filmed at the Quwwatul Ummah Mosque clearly showed that maintaining social distancing inside the building was impossible. <br /><br />According to the mosque's management, the prayers were held at the request of residents and with the permission of local government.<br /><br />Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation.<br /><br />According to Johns Hopkins University data at 7:50 GMT on May 24th, Indonesia recorded 21,745 cases of COVID-19 and 1,351 deaths.
