A university in eastern China used robots to replace students for a virtual graduation ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic.<br /><br />The video, filmed at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications on May 22, shows the robots dressed in caps and gowns "walking" to the president on a stage, to have their tassels turned and to receive diplomas on behalf of the graduates.<br /><br />The robots all have a tablet with the face of the student it represents, so the students can interact and communicate with the president.<br /><br />According to a student from the university, the virtual graduation ceremony allowed students who were not able to participate the graduation ceremony in person during the coronavirus pandemic to have no regrets.<br /><br />The video was provided by local media with permission.
