Protestors around the globe seek justice following the death of George Floyd

미 흑인사망 시위... 전세계 연대로 이어져<br /><br />Meanwhile, outside the U.S. people are gathering in the streets as a display of solidarity and to protest against police brutality following the death of George Floyd.<br />It's not just the general public either as several major companies and high-profile celebrities are joining the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.<br />Our Choi Won-jong with the details.<br />"Black Lives Matter."<br />This three-word chant reverberates around Trafalgar Square in the heart of London.<br />Hundreds and thousands of protestors are marching to make their voices heard over the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis.<br />Out on the streets of London some protestors say racism can be seen everywhere.<br />"It happens everywhere in the world. People choose to think that it's not going on anymore - that's the biggest racism right now."<br />As huge crowds filled more and more streets around the globe, many companies are joining the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.<br />As a tribute, American TV channels like MTV and, Black Entertainment Television, announced Sunday that they will go dark for eight minutes and 46 seconds - the same length of time which a police officer pinned George Floyd to the ground with his knee before he died.<br />Companies like Twitter, Adidas, and Nike are also lending their support and are taking a strong stand against racism.<br />And on social media, more and more celebrities are coming forward to speak out on the death of George Floyd.<br />"We need justice for George Floyd. We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We're broken and we're disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain."<br />In the meantime, George Floyd's family has setup a fundraising campaign to help cover funeral expenses and grief counseling.<br />From rage over injustice to donations for the victim's family, the page has so far raised more than 8 million U.S. dollars.<br />Choi Won-jong, Arirang News.<br />
