Two police officers in Buffalo, New York, were charged with assault Saturday.<br />A video showed the officers shoving 75-year-old protester Martin Gugino in recent demonstrations over the death of George Floyd.<br />Law enforcement was in the process of clearing demonstrators from Niagara Square around an 8 pm curfew.<br />The pair of officers pushed Gugino backward, causing his head to hit the pavement, spilling blood as officers walk past.<br />One officer leaned down to check on the injured man before another officer urged the colleague to keep walking.<br />The video of the encounter sparked outrage online as demonstrators took to cities across the world to protest Floyd’s death.<br />Dozens of Buffalo police officers angered over their fellow officers' suspensions stepped down from the department’s crowd control unit Friday.<br />According to Newser, the resigning officers did not leave their jobs altogether.
