A peacock was rescued from an 80-foot (24 metre) deep well in agricultural land by the firefighters in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.<br /><br />The incident took place in Valliyur of Tirunelveli District on June 7.<br /><br />Video of the rescue shows a firefighter is going down into the well with safety gear to rescuing the bedraggled bird.<br /><br />According to local reports, the owner of the agricultural land, on noticing the bird struggling, called the fire department officials who arrived at the spot and rescued the peacock immediately.<br /><br />The peacock was later handed over to the forest department.
