The World Health Organization (WHO) says people may want to use homemade face masks while out in public.<br />The WHO said Monday that "there is a role for face shields" in providing protection against coronavirus.<br />The agency cautioned that "masks alone will not protect you, face shields alone will not protect you from infection."<br />Officials continue to stress social distancing, hand washing, and covering your cough or sneeze as other important precautions.<br />There are no scientific comparisons that place shields above masks for viral protection.<br />Some public health experts however suggest that face shields might help contain the coronavirus almost as well as masks.
