Mourners pay respects to George Floyd in Houston

플로이드 휴스턴서 마지막 추도식…줄지은 조문객들<br /><br />Thousands of mourners braved sweltering Texas heat on Monday to view the casket of George Floyd, whose death after a police officer knelt on his neck ignited worldwide protests against racism and calls for reforms of U.S. law enforcement.<br />Our Jang Tae-hyun reports.<br />Thousands of mourners stand in line at The Fountain of Praise church in Houston on Monday to pay their respects to George Floyd.<br />It's the final memorial that is open for the public.<br />Visitors were wearing masks and maintaining distance from each other to prevent the spread of COVID-19.<br />Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, made a statement at the visitation ceremony.<br />"It just hurts a lot just being here, talking. Just pain. Thank you all, so much for coming out to support us."<br />The families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, and other victims of racism and police brutality, attended the service.<br />Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden and Texas Governor Greg Abbott also met the family of George Floyd to express solidarity.<br />Governor Abbott hinted that there could be a George Floyd Act to prevent police brutality in Texas.<br />As protests are ongoing nationwide, many stores that have been looted are worried about recovering from the damage.<br />A sports store owner in New York expressed his concerns.<br />"The televisions, cameras everything I've installed in here, the interior it's all smashed up. Almost a million dollars gone in just one morning. It's so disappointing. I never imagined this could happen."<br />Meanwhile, things are quietening down in Los Angeles, and the National Guard left LA's Koreatown and some other parts of the city on Monday.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News<br />
