N. Korea urges South Korea to stop talk of denuclearization

북한, 비핵화 노력을 향한 남한의 발언 비난... 남북 관계 비상<br /><br />North Korea continues to criticize and threaten South Korea over anti-Pyeongyang leaflets sent by North Korean defectors...and this time by releasing a statement regarding denuclearization.<br />Our Choi Won-jong has the details.<br />North Korea is, once again, ramping up inter-Korean tensions with criticisms of the South Korean government.<br />Kwon Jong-gun, head of the North Korea foreign ministry's North America department, said on Saturday that the South needs to stop nonsensical talk about denuclearization on the Korean peninsula.<br />This came after Seoul released a statement regarding efforts to resume dialogue between the North and the United States in the future.<br />Kwon also said in the state-run Korean Central News Agency, (quote) we are not what we were two years ago. The change continues and will continue as ever in a tremendous way.<br />On top of this, North Korea's United Front Department added to the criticism of the South.<br />According to the North's Rodong Sinmun on Saturday, Pyeongyang has threatened Seoul over anti-Pyeongyang leaflets sent by North Korean defectors.<br />Pyeongyang said the act of sending leaflets is insulting to the North Korean leader, calling them more dangerous than South Korea-U.S. joint military training.<br />North Korea's Jang Kum-chol, head of the United Front Department, said that inter-Korean relations have already reached a point where they cannot be fixed.<br />Jang further added that Seoul will now face difficult times, adding that the trust between the two Koreas has been destroyed.<br />Earlier this week, North Korea cut all communication lines with South Korea. Meanwhile, in Seoul, the government has not yet made an official response to the North's latest statements.<br />Choi Won-jong, Arirang News.<br />
