Hundreds of protesters gathered in Sorong on June 17 to demand extended sentences for racist offences.<br /><br />Demonstrators asked law enforcers to act fairly in handling cases of racism that happened to students in Surabaya in August 2019.<br /><br />The demonstrators believe the initial five and seven month sentences given were too mild. Officials later extended the sentences to between five and 17 years.
