N. Korea warns of military action, no unusual movement

북한신문 "향후 조치, 상상 뛰어넘을 것"... 합참 "현재까지 직접활동 확인안돼"<br /><br />Two days since North Korea blew up the inter-Korean Liaison Office... the regime has warned it would carry out stronger measures... but remain tight-lipped on criticisms from South Korea's presidential office the day before.<br />While confirming no unusual activity along the border, South Korea's military warns any provocation from the North will be met with starts us off.<br />North Korea's official state newspaper, the Rodong Sinmun reported Thursday that the inter-Korean liaison office explosion is "just the beginning" and that the "explosive sound of justice will continue beyond imagination."<br />The paper said military patience has run out... and that the military is mulling over a detailed action plan that is to be announced and should be taken seriously.<br />Citing military sources, multiple South Korean media outlets reported that North Korea has dispatched soldiers to vacated observation posts inside the Demilitarized Zone.<br />However, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff says no unusual activity has been detected.<br />"We're closely monitoring the activities mentioned by the North's General Staff of the Korean People's Army... but as of yet there have been no incidents to give additional explanations for."<br />In response, Seoul reaffirmed its position that inter-Korean agreements must be abided by... but that it'll respond firmly to provocative military action.<br />In a weekly National Security Council meeting at the Blue House, top officials inspected the South Korean military's defense posture and its monitoring of the North.<br />It stated, efforts will continue to be made to prevent tensions rising further on the peninsula.<br />"The South Korean military takes the current situation gravely. We will maintain a firm defense readiness posture...while managing the situation in a stable manner to prevent it from escalating. But North Korea will pay heavily if it goes ahead with military provocation... the South Korean military will not hesitate to respond potently."<br />North Korea warned it'll redeploy troops and resume exercises along the inter-Korean border... moves that would nullify the inter-Korean Comprehensive Military Agreement which was forged in 2018 in a bid to reduce tensions.<br />Kim Ji-yeon, Arirang News.<br />
