On Friday, singer Taylor Swift announced that she would commemorate Juneteenth by giving her employees the day off. <br />According to CNN, the pop singer also shared a video from The Root on social media. <br />It explained why Juneteenth should be a holiday and how it marks the day slavery officially ended in the U.S.<br />Swift also said that she would spend Juneteenth to "continue to educate myself on the history that brought us to this present moment."<br />Swift also said that the Confederate monuments in her adopted home state of Tennessee "make her sick."<br />She wrote on social media, "...It makes me sick that there are monuments standing in our state that celebrate racist historical figures who did evil things."
