이재용 수사심의위 오늘 개최... 외부 전문가들 판단 주목<br /><br />Now the latest on the investigation into Samsung Electronics' de facto leader Lee Jae-yong, who is suspected of crimes allegedly committed in his succession to the leadership.<br />Attorneys for the billionaire scion of Samsung Group have been squaring off against government prosecutors before a group of 15 academics, legal experts and civil activists.<br />The committee is soon expected to issue an opinion on whether the investigation is valid or not.<br />Our Kim Do-yeon is live on the line.<br />Do-yeon, while not legally binding, their judgment should prove difficult to contravene.<br />Tell us about the panel and any updates there might be at this point.<br /><br />Conn-young, as you said, the prosecution is investigating Lee Jae-yong and two others for alleged irregularities in a 2015 merger and for accounting fraud.<br />The panel started with 15 members, but one of them a former chief justice of the Supreme Court recused himself because he had personal connections with a suspect in the case.<br />The meeting was supposed to end at 5:50 PM, but a decision has not come out yet.<br />As for the process, each side Samsung and the prosecution provided 50-page opinions and gave a presentation to the panel.<br />The aim is to have an unanimous decision, but if that doesn't happen, the majority will rule.<br />The decision is not legally binding, as you said, but is thought to have some level of influence.<br />Back to you, Conn-young.<br />
